Expressions of interest (EOI) for a new financial counselling funding round are now open to eligible not-for-profit organisations.
The $15 million funding round will be open to community organisations that provide financial counselling and related services to the community and will ensure more Victorians experiencing mortgage or rental stress can access free, confidential and independent support.
Financial counsellors provide critical advice, advocacy and support. This includes negotiating with creditors and working with people on realistic payment plans for debts.
The Financial Counselling Program supported over 23,000 Victorians in 2023–24 to get their finances back on track. This included over 4,100 people affected by family violence.
Through this funding round the government will provide $15 million to community organisations over 3 years.
This funding is on top of the government’s $16 million investment in the Financial Counselling Program in 2024-25 and the recently announced $7.8 Rental Stress Support Package.
Expressions of interest are open until 30 August 2024.
