Melbourne Magistrates’ Court has imposed injunctions on two men who accepted $21,190 in payments for fencing and building work that was never carried out.
On 3 May 2011, the court ordered that Samer and Najy Rayes be restrained from:
- demanding or accepting payment before the satisfactory completion of work
- demanding or accepting deposits for work
- entering into a major domestic building contract unless registered as a builder under the Building Act 1993.
The men, who have not refunded the money, were ordered to pay court costs of $2862.
