Not-for-profit organisations that support Victorians who need rental assistance are invited to express their interest in a new funding round.

The $7.79 million Rental Stress Support Package will be available for organisations doing critical work to support Victorian renters and prevent homelessness, recognising the high demand for their services in recent months.

The package is one of the initiatives under the Government’s Housing Statement and will be delivered through the Victorian Property Fund, which is administered by Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Around 5 per cent of Victorian households are facing serious renting stress, putting them at risk of being evicted because they can’t afford to pay their rent.
These organisations provide vital services such as information and advice, advocacy and legal assistance.

Consumer Affairs Victoria supports renters through a range of initiatives, including the Tenancy Assistance and Advocacy Program.

The program supported 8,410 Victorians facing financial disadvantage and family violence in the last financial year.

Expressions of interest open on Friday 17 November 2023.
