Melbourne Magistrate’s Court has granted final orders against South Melbourne real estate agency Infolio Corp Pty Ltd and its former director Cameron Deal to restrain them from operating as a real estate business without a licence.
The court found that the company had breached the Real Estate Agents Act 1980 by operating without a licence between September 2009 and 11 August 2010.
Consumer Affairs Victoria took out a temporary injunction against Infolio Corp Pty Ltd in April.
This action resulted in the company appointing a licensed officer to control its operations.
Melbourne Magistrates’ Court made final orders on 17 August to:
- restrain Mr Deal from managing Infolio Corp’s property rental business
- restrain the company from conducting a real estate business unless licensed
- require the company to publish a corrective advertisement in a weekend newspaper’s property section by 19 September.
The company, which has since received its real estate licence, was ordered to pay $2500 costs.
