Nicole Papadopoulos, director of graphic design business 1House Group Pty Ltd (ACN 142 188 467), which traded as Online Centric, has been disqualified from managing corporations until 1 March 2021, after she and her company breached the Australian Consumer Law (Victoria).
Consumer Affairs Victoria took action against the Melbourne-based business and Ms Papadopoulos in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. Our action followed a rise in complaints about Online Centric accepting payment for goods and services that were either not provided in the agreed time or not provided at all.
Online Centric has been restrained until 1 March 2019 from requesting or accepting:
- deposits to supply any website design, search engine optimisation (SEO) or graphic design goods and services
- any other payment to supply any website design, SEO or graphic design goods and services, prior to the actual delivery of the goods and services.
Ms Papadopoulos has been restrained from, among other things, aiding and abetting any conduct of Online Centric that breaches the above provisions.
Online Centric and Ms Papadopoulos were also ordered to close the company’s website until 1 March 2017 and pay costs of $1,700.
